Starlight Day 2006

The Bashers were again at Starlight Day at Popham providing free flights for seriously ill children and their families. G-BASH only just made it back from Exeter where Pete Rounce found himself weathered in.

Starlight Day provides a chance for the families to relax in a world that children big and small enjoy including Aeroplanes, helicopters motor bikes and hovercraft!

G-BASH and G-ATIS flew approximately 16 flights and carried some 48 passengers. G-BASH pilots included Dave Leddy, Pete Rounce, Dave Skertchly and John Wrayton.

Starlight Day 2004

G-BASH was fixed in time for the annual Starlight day extravaganza at Popham. The Bashers flew 16 flights and over 40 seriously ill children and their families. Dave Leddy and Chris Sellen flew G-BASH while Dave Skertchly and friend Malcolm Barton flew PA 28 G-ATIS.

Starlight Day 2003

As every year the Bashers, this time Dave Leddy, Dave Skertchly, Chris Sellen and Peter Rounce, supported the Starlight Foundation day for seriously ill children and their families. G-BASH flew six trips amounting to flying at least 13 children with accompanying parents. The Bashers had prepared a certificate calculated to appeal to the boys but apparently equally sought after by the girls! John Wrayton brought some horses and Dave Skertchly brought a Pinzgauer off road fire engine which had featured on Blue Peter (thanks to Automotive Technik of Guildford). Pinzgauer driver, Sarah was the first to receive a Basher's certificate.

G-BASH was shown on the Starlight day feature on Meridian, G-BASH having had a mini cam screwed to the dash. No surprise this, as after all G-BASH is the world's most famous AA5!  Chris Sellen was the pilot this time.

Starlight Day 2002

Every year Dick Richardson and the Starlight foundation arrange a day out for seriously ill children and their families at Popham. G-BASH is very much in demand at these events because it is a four seater so an adult can accompany the children. The registration too attracts some of the more lively young lads, inspired no doubt by the the Beano's Bash street kids! Many a young monkey has rushed away to tell his parents that he is now a Basher, with all the overtones of disrespectability which the title implies. This year Chris Sellen was among the fliers for the first time, and G-BASH featured the Test Valley Council newsletter.

Starlight Day 1999

G-BASH first attended the Starlight day at Popham in 1999 and was featured on Meridian TV. The story was told in the Bash News hard copy newsletter of Sept 1999 and gave rise to the G-BASH claim to be the worlds most famous AA5. Click on the page below to read the pdf.
