For 2003 it appeared that only 6 Bashers and one guest would be able to make the trip. Gwyn returned from Thailand no less, but was not able to fill a slot at the last minute. The day dawned grey and misty with the front due to clear the South at 11.30 local time. As predicted it did indeed clear and G-BASH followed G-AXBH south, towards Cherbourg. The transit across the channel was by now routine and Chris Sellen flying G-AXBH formated on G-BASH being flown by new boy Peter Rounce.

At Cherbourg G-BASH flew an ILS procedure in now perfect weather and in no time "une taxi grande"  was summonsed to take the Bashers to Barfleur for Lunch.

The problem with the weather meant that the Bashers arrived at Barfleur at 3.00pm local time but the Maitre D of the Cafe de Paris was persuaded to make up some cheese and ham croqs (French Rarebit). This was finished off with ice cream and coffee so it was not too bad after all, although John Wrayton did not want to be Photographed eating something as modest as cheese on toast in France!

To rotate the flying the Bashers swapped places to fly from Cherbourg to Alderney for cheap fuel and duty frees. Doug was happy that any of the experienced Bashers could fly G-AXBH so Steve Roberts took the lead back to UK arriving by 6.30pm. This concluded a pleasant enough if not classic Bash Group Day Out for 2003
